Help with Nova
Something not working, or a question about your account? Write to support@heynova.org. A person reads every message.
Getting into your account
I cannot sign in
Nova signs you in with your email address or with a Google account. If you first signed up with Google, use the Google button rather than typing a password, because there is no password on that account to type.
I have forgotten my password
Write to us from the email address you registered with and we will send you a link to set a new one. Resetting it yourself from the sign-in screen is not possible yet, which we know is the wrong way round; it is being built. If you signed in with Google there is no password involved, so use the Google button.
Can I use Nova on more than one device?
Yes. Your record lives in your account, not on the phone, so signing in somewhere else brings all of it with you.
Sharing with somebody
How do I let my partner or a friend follow my treatment?
Generate an invite code in the Support tab and give it to them. They create their own account and enter the code. You then choose which categories they can see, and every one of them starts switched off, so nothing is visible until you say so.
Can they read my journal?
No. There is no sharing setting for journal entries at all, so there is nothing to switch on by accident. They stay yours.
How do I stop somebody seeing my record?
Disconnect them in the Support tab. Access stops immediately, at the database, not by hiding a screen. Your invite code is replaced at the same time, so an old code cannot be used to reconnect.
Reminders
My reminders are not arriving
Three things have to be true, and all three can be switched off separately:
- Reminders are turned on inside Nova.
- Your browser or phone has granted notification permission. If you dismissed the permission prompt, the browser will not ask again on its own and you have to grant it in site settings.
- The device has been online since the reminder was due.
Will a notification say what the medication is?
Not unless you ask it to. By default a reminder says you have something due without naming it, so it is safe on a lock screen somebody else can see. Showing the detail is a setting you turn on deliberately.
Your data
How do I get a copy of everything?
In your account settings, export your data. You get a machine-readable file and a readable summary of the same information. It is generated on your own device, so no copy is stored anywhere, and you do not need to ask us.
How do I delete my account?
In your account settings, delete your account. It removes your profile, cycles, medications and doses, appointments, results, journal entries, symptoms, embryo and egg records, clinic notes, invite code and sharing permissions, and your sign-in identity with them. Anybody you had shared with loses access first, before anything else happens.
It cannot be undone. Export first if you want to keep a copy. Our privacy page sets out the two things a deletion deliberately keeps and why.
Does my clinic see any of this?
No. Nova is your own record. No clinic has an account, and no clinic can see who has recorded treatment with them.
Clinics and reviews
My clinic is not in the list
Type the name anyway and it will save. The pre-populated list covers regulated clinics in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, so a clinic abroad or a very new one may not be in it yet. The only thing you lose is the link to that clinic’s published figures and reviews.
Something in the clinic directory is wrong
Tell us which clinic and what is wrong, and we will check it against the regulator’s published record. Contact details were taken from the HFEA’s listing and clinics do move.
I want to report a review, or ask about one I wrote
Use report a review, which reaches a moderator directly. Our moderation policy explains what we publish, what we remove and how a clinic replies.
Accessibility
Nova is built to work with a screen reader, at larger text sizes, and without a mouse. If something is unusable for you, please tell us what and on which screen. That is a bug and we will treat it as one.
Support that is not about the app
Fertility treatment is hard, and a support page about software is not much use for the rest of it. These organisations are independent of Nova.
- Fertility Network UK: helpline, forums and local support groups
- BICA: find an accredited fertility counsellor
- Mind: mental health advice and support
- Samaritans: free, any time, on 116 123 in the UK and Ireland
